As one of the most popular foods on the planet, chili comes in many forms, but which one is the best? Is it the Traditional Red? Your secret family recipe? Or a ‘Freestyle’ blend of whatever pleases your mouth? The world’s best chili cooks will spice up Kissimmee, Fla. at the World Open Chili Championship and find out who has the best chili on the planet.
Choosing from all three major sanctioning bodies, The World Food Championships will accept the champions of the world’s premier chili competitions to compete in Kissimmee.
What will start as a host of the absolute best championship chiliheads from across the planet, will end up with just one winner… the World Open Chili Champion.

The World Open Chili Championship has been revised this year.
Significant Changes Include:

- All Competition will take place in the Kenmore Kitchen Arena providing access to the Kenmore equipment for all Chili contestants.
- Opening Rounds will occur on Saturday Nov 7 starting at 7:30am
- The Traditional Red and Tailgate Rounds will start at the same time, but have separate turn in times
- Turn Ins will comply with the EAT Methodology and all judging will comply with the EAT Methodology
- Execution and Appearance scoring AND 5 sample portions one for each of the 5 Judges to Taste.
- The Hormel People's Choice Chili Fest will take place also on Saturday. The recipe could (at the discretion of the competitor) be either the Traditional Red OR the Tailgate recipes OR could be a favorite/signature dish of the competitior. The Tailgate Recipe must include Hormel No Beans Chili AND another type of ingredient to make it a Tailgate dish.
- The Top 10 Round has been moved to Sunday Nov 8 in the afternoon to give competitors a chance to rest after the busy Saturday schedule. The Top 10 recipe is Freestyle.
The World Open Chili Championship will be limited to the first 30 entrants who are fully qualified, registered and confirmed. Any qualified entrant who wants to compete after the field is full must seek a special exemption from the WFC competition committee..

If a contest or competition winner is unable to accept the invitation and participate in The World Food Championships, invitations will be extended to an alternate winner at the same event or the winner of an additional event.
