Southern Pride Partners with WFC

The World Food Championships announced today that Southern Pride BBQ Pits and Smokers will be the Official Smoker of the 2014 World Chef Challenge and a brand partner to the World Barbecue Championship, which takes place in Downtown Las Vegas, November 12-18, 2014.

Twenty-one chefs from across the country will compete in multiple rounds from November 14-16 during the World Chef Challenge, a featured contest at the week-long World Food Championship. The winner of the World Chef Challenge will win a cash prize and a commercial smoker from Southern Pride valued at $11,000.

In 2013, Las Vegas chef Michael Chen, most recently Executive Chef at Yellow Tail in Las Vegas and ACF USA Chef of the Year nominee, won the World Chef Challenge by besting a field of accomplished culinary professionals including 2012 World Chef Champion and Executive Chef at the Williamsburg Inn, Travis Brust. The 2014 World Chef Challenge will again challenge the cooking skills, hand & knife skills and culinary creativity of all the world-class chefs that will be competing.

“Southern Pride is the perfect example of excellence in commercial smokers for restaurants within the barbecue foodservice industry,” said Mike McCloud, president of the World Food Championships. “Known for the reliability and consistency of their woodburning smokers, we are thrilled to have them on-board with us in Las Vegas.”

“We are honored to be a partner of the 2014 World Food Championships and are in awe of the talented cooks and chefs who are competing this year,” said Jared Robertson, president of Southern Pride.
