GENERAL QUESTIONS

  • What is a Super Regional?
    • Super Regional events are multi-category qualifying competitions where amateur cooks and professional chefs compete in live cookoffs to win cash prizes and free qualification to compete in the World Food Championships.
  • Who can compete in a Super Regional?
    • Anyone can register to cook in a Super Regional competitions, from professional chefs, to competition cooks, to amateur home cooks with a great recipe and the will to win.
  • What are the dates of the competition?
    • September 5-6, 2014
  • What are the categories?
    • Seafood, Cheese, Dessert
  • Do I have to compete in all three categories?
    • No, you register and compete in the one category that you choose.
  • Can I compete in more than one Super Regional?
    • Yes, you can compete in more than one Super Regional.
  • How do I register for a Super Regional?
  • What cooking equipment, if any, will be provided?
    • A Competitor's Packet will be available shortly

ATTENDEE QUESTIONS

  • Where can I buy tickets to the Music City Cookoff Super Regional?
  • Can I sample food?
    • The competition dishes are created only for WFC judging. There will be live cooking demonstrations on-site. If you’d like to try your hand at judging, visit our judges application page, here. (link to future judges registration page)

COMPETITOR QUESTIONS

  • How will each category be judged?
    • Each category will have its own competition rules. Most categories will be judged using the World Food Championships' own proprietary EAT™ scoring method which assesses each dish’s appearance, essence and taste.
  • How much is the entry fee to compete?
    • The entry fee is $100 per category competition at the Super Regional events.
  • Do I have to pay an admittance/ticket fee into the host event?
    • WFC will provide access for up to two cooks per team into the overall event (if necessary). Check host event’s website for ticket details.
  • Can my friends and family attend?
    • Yes, of course! Admittance to watch the Music City Cookoff Super Regional is subject to the Host Events general admission fee.
  • Are travel expenses included in the competition entry fee?
    • No. Competitors are responsible for all travel and lodging expenses.

JUDGE/VOLUNTEER QUESTIONS

  • I would like to judge at the Music City Cookoff Super Regional!
  • I would like to volunteer at the the Music City Cookoff Super Regional!
  • I don't have any prior judging experience.
    • That's ok! The World Food Championships is seeking to find the most qualified judges possible, this however, does not require you to have previously judged a competition or have a culinary degree. When applying, you will be asked to share your culinary/food resume, so make sure you tell us all about your passion for food.
  • Can I judge more than one category?
    • It is possible, though not likely, due to the response in judge’s applications and volume of food.
  • I have applied to judge, when will I find out if I am selected?
    • Selected judges will be contacted approximately two weeks previous to the Super Regional event.
  • What are the various things I can volunteer for at the World Food Championships?
    • There are numerous tasks and ways a person can volunteer for. Depending on your culinary background, there may also be specific culinary volunteer opportunities. Your volunteer application will list a number of these opportunities.
